Start-up technology companies must use outside counsel for all legal matters prior to hiring their first permanent in-house counsels. Outside counsel are usually great at what they do. However, outside counsel are specialists and specialization comes with a price tag.
Breakthrough Biotech Law is perfectly positioned to provide in-house legal services to early-stage biotechnology companies that wish to build out a legal function, but might not yet be ready for a full-time in-house attorney or keen on continuing to pay specialist rates when all that is needed is generalist services. Breakthrough Biotech Law is also happy to provide overflow support to established biotechnology companies having small legal groups.
Breakthrough Biotech Law primarily serves biotechnology clients, but also has experience serving clients in the cannabis and agricultural industries - particularly those with protectable intellectual property.
We offer extremely competitive rates for legal and consulting services, and offer flexible billing traditionally by the hour. We are also happy to negotiate flat rates. Furthermore, Breakthrough Biotech Law offers daily rates (subject to availability).
Can Breakthrough Biotech Law represent me if my company has a principal place of business outside California? Breakthrough Biotech Law can represent any client before the USPTO in any United States jurisdiction because patent law is federally adjudicated. Breakthrough Biotech Law can also assist non-California companies on a consultation basis for non-patent matters that do not require legal representations, e.g., contract negotiations, compliance, IP strategizing, legal department management, etc. However, other than patent and plant variety protection procurement, Breakthrough Biotech Law is unable to hold itself out as a legal representative for companies that are not incorporated or have a principal place of business within California.
